Relaxed Family Photoshoots Across Oxfordshire

As a family photographer I specialise in capturing natural, heartfelt moments for growing families. Family photography sessions in Oxfordshire can take place outdoors, in the comfort of your home or in the studio, creating relaxed and timeless photographs that reflect genuine connection, personality and the love you share together.

Whatever the reason, be it a 50th Wedding Anniversary, a four generation family get-together or just wanting to update the family photograph on the living room wall, we are here to help. A family photoshoot can take place in our Cotswold studio or in a beautiful outdoor location of your choosing. Perhaps you and your family are staying at an AirBNB in the Cotswolds? We would be delighted to come along and capture some special memories for you. Please get in touch and we can discuss your plans.

Family Photography FAQs

What if my children don’t cooperate or sit still during the session?

Please do not worry—this is completely normal! We never expect children to sit perfectly still and pose. Our family sessions are designed to be fun, relaxed, and led by your children’s natural energy. We capture the genuine giggles, games, and quiet moments, so you can just focus on enjoying your time together while we take care of the rest.

What should we wear for our family photoshoot?

We recommend choosing a neutral, cohesive colour palette rather than matching perfectly. Earthy tones, soft pastels, creams, and textured fabrics (like knits or linens) photograph beautifully and keep the focus entirely on your family’s connections. Once you book, we will guide you through styling tips to ensure everyone feels comfortable and looks great together.

Can we include grandparents or the family dog in the session?

Absolutely. Generations and family pets are a huge part of your story, and we love welcoming them into the studio. Just let us know who is coming along when you book so we can plan the session flow to keep everyone—especially our four-legged friends—comfortable and happy.

How long does a family session usually last?

We allow up to two hours but our family sessions typically last around one hour. This gives us plenty of time to get a wonderful variety of images without pushing younger children past their patience thresholds. We move at a pace that keeps things engaging and stress-free for the whole family.

What happens if someone wakes up sick on the day of the shoot?

As a family-focused studio, we completely understand that illness happens. If your child wakes up feeling unwell, simply let us know as soon as possible. We will happily reschedule your session to a new date so that everyone is feeling their absolute best and full of smiles for the camera.

What happens if the weather is bad for an outdoor session?

British weather can be unpredictable! If we have booked an outdoor session and the forecast shows heavy rain or overcast storms, we will get in touch the day before. We can either move your session into our comfortable Chipping Norton studio or reschedule to the next available clear day at no extra cost to you.

How long after the session will it take to see our photos?

We know how excited you are to see your memories! Your images are carefully selected and individually hand-edited to our highest creative standards. Your final gallery will be ready to view within two to three weeks of your session, at which point we will invite you to choose your favourite portraits.”

What to wear for family photography in Oxfordshire

Try to remember that these photographs will be on your wall for a long time, so keep it simple. Try to coordinate colours and avoid logos, t-shirts with characters on, etc that might date the photographs. Neutral colours are often a great option. If you all turn up wearing white tops we will be very happy. You can see other examples of our family photography on our Facebook page or on our Instagram page.

Family sessions are booked with a session fee, with digital images and artwork purchased separately after your viewing gallery. Full pricing information can be found here.
